The MultiCoiler MC260 helps cable manufacturers improve coiling output, stabilise coil quality, reduce packaging complexity, and support more sustainable packaging strategies.
Cable packaging issues rarely stay within one part of the production process. When cable ends get lost between layers or tangles appear during pull-out, the result can reach the end customer.
When thinner cable diameters are affected by unstable tension, output and product quality can suffer.
When floor space is limited, adding new packaging equipment becomes a plant layout challenge. And when packaging no longer meets market expectations for sustainability, the issue becomes strategic.
Windak developed the MultiCoiler MC260 to address these real production conditions with a fully automatic, dual-head coiling concept built around output, coil quality, packaging flexibility, and efficient line integration.
The MC260 is designed primarily for high-speed packaging of single-core wires in standard lengths, such as 100 m, while also supporting multicore cable applications and short-length coils. Its dual-head design supports continuous, high-output operation, while advanced cable handling and tension control help maintain stable, repeatable coil quality across different cable types.
A key advantage of the MC260 is its three packaging configurations, allowing manufacturers to select the packaging concept that best fits their product, market, and production requirements:
MC260 Eco: coil-in-a-box solution integrated with the EcoPacker EP260, supporting more sustainable cable packaging.
MC260 Smart: integrated stretch wrap unit for securing the cable end and maintaining coil shape, especially when handling stiff products.
MC260 Smart+: tuck-under solution with a self-retained cable end, helping prevent the loose cable end from springing open.
For thinner cable diameters, stable tension is critical.
The MC260 uses a horizontal accumulator together with servo-pneumatic tension control to support continuous payoff speed during changeover between the coiling heads and maintain consistent cable tension. This helps manufacturers achieve uniform coil packages, reduce tangling, and improve output stability.
The MC260 is also designed for practical integration into real production environments. Configurable coil OD, ID, and height allow adaptation to different market and packaging requirements, while left-to-right or right-to-left operation supports flexible line design.
Its compact footprint helps manufacturers add automated coiling capacity even when available floor space is limited.
With fully automatic operation, permanent quality monitoring, and efficient operation by a single operator, the MC260 supports predictable daily production while helping manufacturers move towards more sustainable packaging strategies.
The MultiCoiler MC260 reflects Windak’s continued focus on automation solutions that help cable manufacturers improve productivity, quality, safety, and packaging flexibility across the production line.
