In a landmark development for Thailand’s industrial landscape, five of the nation’s most prominent electric wire and cable producers have officially launched the Trade Association of Thai Cable Manufacturers (ATCM). This new alliance signals a powerful commitment to elevate product quality, protect the domestic market, and build a safer, smarter electrical infrastructure for Thailand and beyond.
Most recently, the association held its 2025 Annual General Meeting to elect its first president. The members unanimously appointed Mr. Pongsapak Nakornsri, Chief Commercial Officer of Bangkok Cable, with the role as ATCM’s inaugural President for the 2025–2027 term, to lead the association in driving its key missions forward.
Mr. Pongsapak Nakornsri, President of the Trade Association of Thai Cable Manufacturers (ATCM), stated that the association was founded with five core missions including (1) elevating industry standards to ensure the highest levels of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance (2) supporting responsible manufacturing processes while promoting accurate and accessible knowledge for end users (3) collaborating with both domestic and international organisations in developing cable standards, installation guidelines, and best practices (4) driving innovation and global competitiveness through research, knowledge-sharing, and cross-industry collaboration; and (5) representing Thailand’s cable manufacturing industry in communications with government agencies, regulators, and international partners.
The founding members Bangkok Cable, Charoong Thai Wire and Cable (CTW), Phelps Dodge Thailand, Thai-Yazaki Electric Wire, and Prysmian Group Thailand have long been cornerstones of the Thai cable manufacturing ecosystem. By joining forces under ATCM, these companies aim to amplify their impact through strategic collaboration and shared responsibility.
ATCM’s mission is bold: to raise industry standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and act as a unified voice in dialogues with government bodies, regulators, and international partners. Through research, innovation, and cross-industry collaboration, the association seeks to solidify Thailand’s reputation as a regional leader in cable manufacturing.
“Cables may be invisible to the public eye, but they are the backbone of modern life,” Mr. Nakornsri noted. “From powering homes to electrifying critical infrastructure, the role of high-quality cables cannot be overstated.”
ATCM’s long-term vision is to build a safer, more sustainable Thailand; one where infrastructure is powered by cables that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. Through the collective expertise of its member companies, the association aims to develop next-generation product innovations that align with global energy and smart grid trends.
“As Thailand pushes forward with infrastructure development and energy modernisation, ATCM is here to ensure our industry evolves with it; securely, sustainably, and intelligently,” said Mr. Nakornsri.
