Maschinenfabrik Niehoff looks back on a wire 2024 of superlatives
The wire 2024 trade fair was a great success for Niehoff. The company, one of the largest exhibitors in Düsseldorf, presented a series of innovations in the fields of wire drawing, bobbin rewinding, braiding, and automotive wire packaging system (NPS) as well as its new, extended service concept NIEHOFF LifeCycle+.
One of the innovations, the next-generation rod breakdown (RBD) line type MSM 88 + R 503 for copper and aluminum wires, received particular interest from the visitors. The brand new series is comprised of several models of rod breakdown machines (MSM 84 / MSM 88) and annealers (R 403 / R 503 / R 603). On the fair the line was presented in in a special showroom, the Innovation Cube, where the visitors followed the guided presentations in small groups. By the end of the trade fair week, around 600 guests had seen the new RBD line and listened to Niehoff experts explaining it to them. The centerpieces of the line on display are the new drawing machine type MSM 88 driven by torque motors and the new R 503 type continuous resistance annealer using the patented Niehoff HEAT system (High Efficiency Annealing Technology). This ground-breaking technology, together with the fact that the whole line can work at up to 100 % higher production speeds, enables users to realise enormous cost benefits, including huge savings in energy costs and CO2 emissions. The Niehoff experts were able to calculate solid figures for individual customer cases directly at the event, giving an idea of how great the benefits are for the customer.
Niehoff added an extraordinary highlight for its customers on the last day of the trade fair with a one-day flight and bus trip from Düsseldorf Airport via Prague Airport to Niehoff’s Czech subsidiary NCZ in Nymburk, where an in-house exhibition awaited the visitors. The focus was on the demonstration of a D 2002 type double twist stranding machine in front of 120 interested customers, which stranded 61 copper wires to a conductor cross-section of 400 mm². Designed to strand and compact class 2 conductors for power cables and flexible class 5 conductors as well as to strand insulated wires, the D 2002 provides cable manufacturers with the ability to produce larger size power cables, increasingly in demand due to the growing global need for electrical energy. This highly efficient and powerful line has a performance of over 11 to/h with 400 mm² class 2 conductors.
