The second edition of REWIREcable wrapped up in Amsterdam and if there’s one word that captured the mood throughout the two-day conference, it was: momentum.

Organised by InnoVites, the event served as a platform for deep conversations around the future of smart manufacturing, AI-driven ERP, IIoT integration, sustainability, and data-centric operations all tailored specifically for the wire & cable industry.

“I truly enjoyed the conference and meeting and networking with peers from other cable producers as well as with IT/OT solution vendors and trendsetters. They inspired me with fresh ideas – and reassured me we’re on the right path. I’ll definitely be back next year,” shared Martin Šimek, NKT Group.

With speakers from Microsoft, Mendix, MFL, Maillefer, Prostep, and more, REWIREcable 2025 featured sessions that didn’t just talk about digital transformation; they showed what it looks like in action.

From predictive maintenance and digital twins to AI-powered quoting engines and real-time cable drum tracking, the presentations tackled everyday challenges faced by wire & cable manufacturers head-on.

Standout sessions included:

  • “The Road to Autonomous ERP with Agentic AI” by Microsoft’s Harold Swaanen, offering a glimpse into how AI agents are changing ERP systems as we know them.
  • “Empowering Smart Manufacturing” by Andrés Cartagena from MFL Group, where GenAI and IoT were demystified through practical, factory-floor use cases.
  • Rewiring the Future – AI’s Role in Transforming Cable Industries” by Frederik Becker and Sathish Balakrishnan from InnoVites, which stood out for its live demo and real-world examples of how AI can automate the quoting process, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive smarter decision-making across the value chain.
  • And “Data-Centric Manufacturing” by Maillefer’s Jussi Hanhirova sparked a wave of conversations about moving from traditional setups to intelligent, insight-driven production.

Each topic sparked practical takeaways and, more importantly, honest conversations about what’s possible now and what’s next.

But what really stood out were the conversations between sessions.

“The networking breaks were as valuable as the talks themselves,” said Torben Wölke from Prostep AG. “The quote that stuck with me most was, ‘Be brave and prepare for a bumpy start.’ We all need that reminder. Another one was, ‘It’s about people.’ Especially in tech, we forget that – but this event didn’t.”

From the main stage to hallway conversations, a few themes stood out:

  • The pressure isn’t just to digitise; it’s to rethink and redesign how we work through true digital transformation.
  • The need to align IT and OT for true transformation
  • And above all, the human side of change: leadership, mindset, and culture

“REWIREcable isn’t just a conference,” said Albert Groothedde, CEO of InnoVites. “It’s a community that’s building the future of this industry, together. We’re proud to have hosted such an engaged group of professionals and leaders, and we’re even more excited about where we’re headed next.”

With attendees from across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America, REWIREcable has quickly become a defining moment on the wire & cable industry’s calendar.

Plans are already in motion for REWIREcable 2027, with an even sharper focus on execution, real-world case studies, and hands-on innovation.
