This year marks a monumental milestone for Bangkok Cable, celebrating 60 years of pioneering advancements in the cable industry. Building upon the six-decade legacy of Mr. Sompong and Ms. Tipa Nakornsri, our esteemed founders, Bangkok Cable advances with relentless dedication to the values they instilled: sincerity, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our customers.
As a young engineer at the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), Sompong Nakornsri saw an opportunity others overlooked. In the 1960s, Thailand’s transition from a 110-volt to a 220-volt electrical system to meet growing energy demands involved rewiring homes, resulting in vast amounts of discarded electrical wires.
“I realized that if we collected and remelted this scrap copper, we could create new wires instead of wasting it. This sparked the idea that a copper remelting plant would be a perfect place to start.” – Sompong Nakornsri, Chairman
He seized this chance, worked tirelessly, saved diligently, and eventually amassed enough savings to establish the copper production factory, Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd., in 1964. In its early years, the company focused on producing power cables to meet the growing demands of the nation’s expanding electrical grid. Through relentless dedication to quality and innovation, Bangkok Cable swiftly earned a reputation for reliability. The 1980s and 1990s saw the company diversifying its product range, incorporating advanced technologies to produce high-performance cables suitable for various applications.
Today, Bangkok Cable stands as Thailand’s leading manufacture of electric wires and cables. It is a testament to excellence in manufacturing, with three state-of-the-art production facilities and a workforce committed to driving quality standards and innovation.
