High Voltage Transmission Lines have become an indispensable part of Thailand’s electric energy infrastructure. Ensuring their stability and reliability by rigorously adhering to international standards is crucial. Continuous and uninterrupted power flow is a key indicator of robust economic stability, significantly boosting investor confidence across all sectors and actively promoting sustainable national development.
Power outages not only impact the economy but also affect the security and reliability of everyday life. Consequently, ensuring a stable and reliable electricity system is vital for the power distribution network. To achieve this, preventing disturbances in the power system is essential. One effective measure is the development and installation of a Protective Cover on High Voltage Electricity Posts. Notably, Thailand has already implemented and continuously uses this technology to enhance the stability and reliability of its power infrastructure.
In 2023, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand (MEA) collaborated with Kim Power Company Limited to design a “Protective Cover” with unique and innovative features. For instance, the guard’s smooth surface and precise size effectively prevent reptiles from causing disruptions. This design was rigorously tested through simulations in an Electronic Laboratory, and the results demonstrated its exceptional potential to prevent animal interference, particularly from reptiles.
Moreover, the design incorporates materials with excellent weather resistance, making it ideal for outdoor installation in Thailand’s hot and humid climate. This advanced guard protection not only boasts a long lifespan but also offers greater convenience and efficiency in installation, saving valuable time for workers. Notably, this cutting-edge innovation has already been registered as a patent.
In the second half of 2023, Protective Cover was further developed for commercial use through a collaboration between HBC Telecom Company Limited and SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited. They enhanced this guard protection using high-efficiency polypropylene, a material known for its superior mechanical impact resistance, strength, productivity, and excellent surface appearance at high extrusion speeds. Due to the exceptional properties of SCGC’s polypropylene, this snake guard protection has been extensively deployed across high-voltage areas throughout Thailand.
